Meghan Markle’s favorite beautician, Nichola Joss, has created her own technique for glowing and healthy skin. This facial massage improves skin tone and texture, promotes lymphatic drainage, prevents puffiness, activates collagen production, tones muscles and gives your face more contour. And it’s pretty easy for anyone to do at home.
1. Take oil
Remember that facial massage should not hurt. It can be a little painful when you start, if so, don’t apply hard pressure. Start by applying your favorite essential oil or any moisturizer to your face and neck so your skin isn’t irritated while you massage it. Put a few drops of the oil on your finger and rub for a few seconds to bring the oil to body temperature.
2. Relax
Close your eyes and cover your face with your hands. Hold for a few seconds and then bring your hands to your neck. This is the preparatory phase to get the skin ready, so don’t apply too much pressure and just relax.
3. Prepare your skin
Apply some pressure and slide your hands outward from the center of your face. At this stage, you activate the lymphatic system, as well as warm the skin and prepare it for the real massage.
4. Small circles
Begin to rub the oil into your skin in small circular motions, starting from the center of your face, going outward and upward.
5. Using both hands, slide your index and middle fingers along the jawline
from your chin to your ears. Apply light pressure, but not too much. This is a great way to stimulate lymphatic drainage and tighten the facial contour. Repeat 6 times.
6. Lifting the cheeks
Use your index and middle fingers to locate the base of the cheekbones and move your fingers upward as you form a V. This exercise helps lift your cheeks and prevent them from sagging. Repeat 6 times.
7. Cheekbones
Press the inside of the hands to the base of the cheekbones and drop your head into your hands. Hold for 10 seconds. Place the inner side of the hands at the base of the cheekbones and wrap your hands under the cheekbones. Repeat 6 times.
8. Around the eyes
Massaging around the eyes will help reduce puffiness. Start with a light touch under your eyes with your index and middle fingers. This warms the area and prepares it for massage. Place your index fingers at the corners of your eyes and start rubbing with your middle fingers from under your eyes.
9. Forehead
Place your fingers just above your eyebrows and apply some pressure outward and upward to the hairline. Repeat 6 times. This exercise targets fine wrinkles on the forehead.
10. Neck
Place your hands on the center of your neck and apply some pressure from the center towards your shoulders. Repeat 3 times on both sides.
Bonus
Our hands deserve to be pampered too. Rub your hands until all the oil is absorbed and make sure you don’t forget your fingers and the back of your hands. Regular oil treatment helps with dryness and prevents wrinkles.
