BURBERRY’S NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR IS DANIEL LEE

Just two days after Riccardo Tisci’s Spring-Summer Burberry collection presentation, the British brand announced that it was moving in a completely different direction. Daniel Lee, Creative Director of Bottega Veneta and unexpectedly leaving the brand last year, has become Burberry’s new Creative Director. While rumors have been swirling about Lee’s new role for several months, his transfer to Burberry after his mysterious departure from Bottega has taken everyone by surprise. Using bold materials, intense colors and eccentric silhouettes in Bottega Veneta collections, Lee created the most iconic pieces of recent years with his shoe and bag designs.

Lee, who deleted the brand’s Instagram account and made projects full of music and art during his time as the Creative Director of Bottega Veneta, also maintained his eccentric style by referring to the only history of Detroit in his last fashion show. Matthieu Blazy took over the role of Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director after Lee’s sudden departure.

Although Daniel Lee’s playing field is thought to be limited at Burberry, we are confident that Lee will bring a completely different look to the British brand. Lee, who is expected to make new designs with classics such as plaid, beige and trench coat, can even take Burberry to the red carpet! Riccardo Tisci, who tried to carry Burberry to a baroque and romantic style after Christopher Bailey’s luxurious sportswear style, could not reach the place he wanted in this regard.

Lee brings another important value to Burberry: He is a British designer who led a British brand after the death of the Queen. In this light, and given the formula that has made his reign at Bottega so successful, Lee might be a better fit for Burberry than Bottega. Daniel Lee, who is expected to present his first collection in February, will take up his position at Burberry on October 3.
