Dua Lipa’s street style has become cartoonish.
Giuliano Calza, creative director and co-founder of GCDS, cited an unusual inspiration for Spring-Summer 2023: “The SpongeBob SquarePants”. Dua Lipa is a staunch supporter of Calza’s fun-loving fashion and was, of course, the first to wear it from her cheerful upcoming season collection.
The Grammy-winning singer wore a GCDS dress featuring Patrick Yıldız, a character from the Nickelodeon cartoon. The pink crochet slip dress is just one of many pieces inspired by the residents of Bikini Bottom Town.
The British singer preferred this style during the celebrations held after her performance in Melbourne as part of her concert tour. She wore a matching lingerie and fingerless knit gloves with a halterneck long dress. She wore a metallic blue chain earring from Eéra. To complete her daring look, Lipa wore a starry pink manicure and crystal eye makeup.
“It’s harder to be taken seriously when making funny outfits,” says GCDS designer and co-founder Giuliano Calza of his designs. “The important thing when trying to be taken seriously is to keep a good dose of irony.”
The “Don’t Start Now” singer has always been inclined to push the boundaries of her experimental wardrobe. Whatever she wore, her willingness to break the tailoring tradition began to define her style.
Lipa talked about the art of dressing up in an interview with Refinery29 in 2018. “I never wanted to put myself in a box and say, ‘This is my style and these are the cornerstones of my style.’ I love to experiment and play,” she said.
Lipa is putting on a fashion show on her Instagram with the photos she shared recently wearing the designs of Diesel, Kiko Kostadinov, Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, Knwls and Dilara Fındıkoğlu.
