Ghesquière, artistic director of women’s collections at Vuitton since 2013, often chooses an architectural marvel as the background for Vuitton’s cruise shows.
For its 2023 cruise show, the brand chose the Salk Institute in San Diego, a cliff-top research facility with a slender reflecting pool that stretches between two rows of identical Brutalist buildings that frame breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

Cruise collections represent an important delivery for luxury brands, as collections have a long sales window spanning several seasons and extra distribution, often through special offers and pop-up shops.
