According to doctors, the risk of getting sick increases as we age and our immune system weakens. It’s recommended to have a full physical checkup every 2 years, but here are some quick tests you can try at home for your own convenience. In just 30 seconds, you can find out if everything is okay with your body.
Here are 5 super quick tests that can tell if you need to visit a specialist or if you have something to worry about.
1. Press firmly on your nail
With your right thumb and index finger, apply pressure on the top of your left fingers towards the nail roots. Start with your thumb and hold for 3-5 seconds. Next, move on to the other fingers and repeat the same.
After relieving pressure, blood should not return for more than 2 seconds. If it comes back within 2 seconds, your body’s blood flow is adequate. Your fingers are tightly attached to your internal organs, and if this test is causing you pain, something is wrong.
According to experts, pain in fingers means:
Thumb: If squeezing your thumb nail hurts you, it could be a sign of a lung problem.
Index finger: Pain in this finger, which is closely related to your large intestines, is an indication of colon problems and constipation.
Middle finger: Pain in your middle finger is a sign of heart problems.
Ring finger: The ring finger is deeply connected to your heart, and if it is painful to put pressure on it, it may be a sign of heart problems.
Little finger: Pain in your little finger can be a sign of problems in the small intestine.
2. Make a fist with your hand
For this test, make a fist with your hand and hold it in the same position. After 30 seconds, open your fist and you will notice that your palm has turned white. When you make a fist, your blood vessels tighten, restricting blood flow to your hand. After you release your hand, the immediate return of blood indicates that your blood vessels are working well and that you are healthy. However, if it takes a while for the palm to turn normal red again, it could be a sign of arteriosclerosis.
3. Stretch your muscles
Lie down comfortably with your face down. Extend both arms to the sides. Keep your left leg straight and slowly raise your right leg. Bend your leg at the knee and stay in this position for 30 seconds.
If you do this successfully, your body is healthy. But if the test is painful for you, you may have a problem with your gluteus maximus, one of the strongest muscles in your body.
4. Keep your legs elevated for 30 seconds
Lie facedown. Extend both arms to the sides. Lift both legs up while keeping your body still. Maintain this position for 30-35 seconds.
If you complete this test without trembling legs; your body is healthy. However, if you find this test really difficult, there may be a problem with your abdomen or lower spine.
5. Lift your body up and stay still
Lie down comfortably with your face down. Only slightly raise your upper body, including your hands. Maintain this position for 30-35 seconds. If you pass this test without difficulty, your body is healthy. If you fail, there may be a problem with your spine.
Please note that these tests are not an alternative to real tests by a professional, they are just a quick check you can do at home. If you have troublesome symptoms, do not delay in consulting a doctor.
