Drinks such as hot chocolate, boza and sahlep, which you can offer to your guests who come to your home, are indispensable in Turkish cuisine. So how are these drinks made at home?
In the winter months, more time is usually spent at home rather than going out. One of the dreams of every woman is to have fun by finishing all her work and preparing hot drinks in front of the window. Apart from tea and coffee, it is very easy to prepare hot drinks that are as delicious as the drinks you buy from outside at home. One of these drinks is sahlep. It is more practical than you think to cook sahlebi, which has become a part of our Turkish culture for centuries, especially when it snows in winter, with long queues in front of it. Moreover, for those who do not like sahlep, you can make hot chocolate, boza or other hot drinks. - HOW TO MAKE SALEP AT HOME?
4 cups of milk
One tablespoon of sahlep powder
A teaspoon of granulated sugar
A teaspoon of cinnamon
Boil the milk in the coffee pot. Then add powdered sahlebi and mix it quickly.
Add cinnamon and sugar to the mixture that has a consistency and continue mixing on low heat.
You can serve the boiling sahlebi by putting cinnamon sticks on it.
- HOW TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE AT HOME?
300 ml. semi-skimmed milk
1 tablespoon of cocoa
50 grams dark chocolate
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
Mix the milk, cocoa and granulated sugar well in the coffee pot. Next, melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie.
Take the boiling milk mixture into the cup. You can serve after adding the melted chocolate.
- BOZA MADE AT HOME
3 cups of bulgur
25 cups granulated sugar
1 packet of vanilla
2 teaspoons of powdered yeast
4-5 liters of water
3 cups granulated sugar
Soak the bulgur in 2 liters of water overnight. The next day, boil the bulgur in water.
Crush the boiled bulgur in a blender. Add hot water from time to time so that it thickens.
When it cools down, mix the granulated sugar, hot water and yeast in a bowl and add it to the bulgur.
When the foam becomes foamy, stirring occasionally, you can add sugar and vanilla.
You should stir frequently during this step. Otherwise, the taste of boza may become bitter.
After being kept in the refrigerator for two days, you can serve it by putting hot roasted chickpeas on it.
- HOW TO MAKE CHAI TEA LATTE AT HOME?
2 cups of milk
1 cup of boiling water
2 tablespoons of large leaf black tea
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of powdered ginger
Brew black tea in boiling water for 3 minutes. Then transfer the tea into the milk bowl. Let it boil with cold milk.
Remove the cloves, cinnamon powder, ginger, black pepper and the seeds from the cardamom and add them to the milk. After boiling for another 3 minutes, strain through a sieve.
You can serve with cinnamon powder.
