GastroANTEP Culture Road Festival was held in Istanbul!

The preliminary introductory meeting of the “GastroANTEP Culture Road Festival”, where the history and current development of Antep cuisine, one of the rare cuisines known as the city in the world, can be witnessed in detail, was held in Istanbul.

In order to promote the cuisine of Gaziantep, which was included in UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network in the field of gastronomy from Turkey in 2015, and to reach different geographies and borders, 5 ceremonies will be held this year in cooperation with Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Preparations are continuing for the 3rd “International Gaziantep Gastronomy Festival”.

In this context, the preliminary introductory meeting of the “GastroANTEP Culture Road Festival”, the cradle of cultures and where feasting turns into art, was held between 16-24 September.
At the meeting, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin gave information about the organizational processes of GastroANTEP, which has now become a traditional festival for the city, with the presentation.

Mayor Fatma Şahin stated that workshops, panels, interviews and concert organizations are planned this year in the festival, which is full of various events every year, and said that Gaziantep will host the leading names of gastronomy during the festival.


In his speech here, Şahin stated that Gaziantep is located in the main vein of the oldest settlements and said, “The table unites us. Culture and art unite us. What we call the table is actually an economy, a dialogue. Therefore, thanks to the inclusiveness and participation of the GastroANTEP table, we also increase our problem-solving capacity.” “On the one hand, we are raising it. We still have a long way to go,” he said.

Stating that GastroANTEP brings the healing economy with it, Şahin said, “There are many diseases in the world. When you go to doctors, they direct you to preventive measures. Among these, food and sports have an important place. When we look at food, doctors provide an incentive to the local cuisine. Of course, this is It is not something that is said only in Gaziantep.

I’m talking about our Anatolian cuisine. When we look at it, our parents are much healthier than us because of the meals of the generations before us. “We need to return to the healthy foods of those times,” he said.
