– Reflux disease is graded in four stages. Grades from A to D provide classification according to the severity of the disease and the size of the lesions in the stomach. According to the Los Angeles classification, stage A is the initial stage of the disease, while stage D is the most advanced.

Iftar and sahur recommendations according to the degree of reflux

– If your reflux is in stage D, there are ulcers, that is, wounds and narrowing in your esophagus. Therefore, your advanced reflux and gastric hernia, if any, may increase in severity due to fasting. If you are in this situation, you should definitely consult your doctor while fasting.

– If your reflux is in other stages, you should pay attention to the diet list given by your doctor and you should use PPI, that is, proton pump inhibitor, especially at sahur, and alginic acid preparations that will form a protective layer in the esophagus after meals.

– Let’s split the iftar meal if possible. Let’s eat a little, wait a while.

– You should stay away from fatty and fried foods, tomato foods, spices, caffeinated drinks, chocolate and similar foods at sahur meal.

– If you want to have a comfortable day without burning your stomach, you should prefer protein foods such as meat and eggs for sahur.
