MICHAEL JOHN KELLY AT SEVIL DOLMACI ART GALLERY WITH ITS FIRST PERSONAL EXHIBITION

Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery is hosting American artist Michael John Kelly’s first solo exhibition in Turkey, “NOW WHAT”. Known for his abstract works, the artist brings together the works he produced in Istanbul, in different mediums such as oil on canvas, collage and mirror, with Turkish art lovers between December 15, 2022 and January 20, 2023.

Kelly, who received her Master’s degree from UCLA, one of the prestigious universities of America, in 2013, reflects today’s “noisy” and “chaotic” world in her works, influenced by abstract expressionist artists and science fiction that emerged in the middle of the 20th century. The artist describes his works as “a post-punk sound wall blending anime, video games and Willem de Kooning”.

Recently represented by Gavlak Gallery, artist Michael John Kelly has participated in solo and group exhibitions in many galleries and museums in his home state of Utah, and later in his home city of Los Angeles, Berlin, Miami, Basel and New York. Located in Beşiktaş for a while, Sevil Dolmacı has prepared a selection of 20 works by bringing together her past personal experiences as well as her experiences in Istanbul in her works produced at Art Residency.

Those who want to watch Kelly’s exhibition “NOW WHAT” can direct their steps to Villa İpranosyan, the jewel-like space of Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery located in Beşiktaş Abbasağa.
