MOVIES YOU MUST WATCH THIS SUMMER

You can get excited as you go on your dream vacation this summer or take some time off at the end. But remember: The warmer months bring with them a new season of movies. The Summer 2023 schedule is full of series and heartwarming stories, of course Barbie.

Here are the movies you can watch this summer for when you are not lounging on the beach or by the pool…

The Little Mermaid

Halle Bailey proves she’s a Disney princess in this remake of the beloved 1989 original. He’s joined by stars like Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. A nostalgic journey awaits you under the sea.


Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Crossing into the Spider-Universe

If you were surprised by the sheer number of Spider-Mans in No Way Home, you’ll be even more surprised to see the crowd running alongside Miles Morales in this sequel. In the sequel to 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, Miles reunites with Gwen Stacy and finds himself among a team of Spider-Man tasked with protecting the good old multiverse.

Flamin’ Hot
Eva Longoria makes her film director debut with the story of Frito Lay cleaner Richard Montañez, who came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos based on his Mexican-American roots. After years of production, this biopic won the audience award when it premiered at SXSW.

Elemental: Forces of Nature
A new Pixar movie often means a new family must-see. This movie takes us to the world of Element City and introduces its inhabitants based on water, air, earth and fire.

After watching all these Wes Anderson-themed TikToks, it’s finally time to welcome a new movie from the famous director. The latest is set in a fictional desert town where the annual Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention is off course due to a major event. Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu play an unlikely group of friends who travel to China when a business trip goes wrong in this comedy led by Asian women. Directed by Adele Lim, the screenwriter of Crazy Rich Asians, the movie is full of funny lines.

Barbie
Ladies and gentlemen, this summer’s highly anticipated cinematic event. As we approach Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie debut, we’re slowly starting to explore the plot. In one trailer, Margot Robbie’s Barbie encounters a series of disturbing events that lead her to seek answers in the real world. Of course, Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, joins the adventure.

Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan’s latest film stars Cillian Murphy as the physicist who invented the atomic bomb. Emily Blunt accompanies her as her husband Katherine; Matt Damon, General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project; Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss of the US Atomic Energy Commission.

Heart of Stone
Gal Gadot leads this large-scale Netflix spy movie, describing it as “highly epic” and “very realistic, action-thriller”. Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt join the cast, while she plays the intelligence officer and adrenaline junkie Rachel Stone.

Blue Beetle
For the first time, DC welcomes Jaime Reyes (Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña) aka Blue Beetle, a Latin American live-action superhero. Jaime is a character known as the Blue Beetle, first introduced in the Teen Titans comics in 2006. Returning home after college graduation, Jaime encounters a mysterious artifact, the Scarab. Scarab becomes attached to him and gives him supernatural powers. Bruna Marquezine is also in the movie.
