Are you ready to return to the brutal universe of ‘The Hunger Games’ movie franchise? Set in this science fiction universe, the new movie ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. The film, which started years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered, is about the rise of the 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow character. Coriolanus Snow, played by Tom Blyth, is the mentor of District 12 Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), who volunteers for the Hunger Games 10.

The movie ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ will be released on November 17, 2023.
WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?
The story of ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, which started 64 years before the story in The Hunger Games movies, tells how President Snow emerged as a dictator. A young Coriolanus is seen as the last hope of the once proud Snow family, who has fallen into disgrace in a post-war Capitol. Snow, whose life is in danger, sees a way out as a mentor to Lucy Gray, a poor District 12 volunteer. Struggling against her instincts for good and evil, Snow hopes to restore her family’s glory using Lucy Gray.
WHO IS IN THE STAFF?
Rachel Zegler, who previously impressed the audience with the movie ‘West Side Story’, plays the character of Lucy Gray, while the character of Coriolanus Snow is played by Tom Blyth.
Other names in the staff are Dr. Viola Davis as Volumnia Gaul, Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow, and Jason Schwartzman as Lucky Flickerman. Although their characters have not been specified yet, there are names such as Burn Gorman, Fionnula Flanagan, Ayomide Adegun, Ashley Liao and Isobel Jesper Jones among the actors who will appear in the film.
Francis Lawrence, who directed the original ‘Catching Fire’ and ‘Mockingjay Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’ films of the series, will sit in the director’s chair again in ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’. Written by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt, the film stars the author of the adapted novel, Suzanne Collins, along with Mika Saito, Jim Miller and Tim Balen.
IS THE TRAILER PUBLISHED?
On April 28, the film’s first trailer shows Panem in the throes of recovery after a bloody civil war that has decimated the country has come to an end. The trailer also reflects Coriolanus and Lucy Gray’s mentor-student relationship. At one point, Lucy tells the future young president, “There’s a natural goodness in all of us. We can cross this line to evil or not.”
